That’s the title of the email that found its way to my inbox this morning. My first clue that it was a scam is that it’s from my own email address.  My second clue is that I tried mystery shopping about 7 years ago and it doesn’t pay $800 a week. In fact, I got $5 an assignment along with free lunch as I evaluated the Whataburger restaurant in Prescott, AZ. $5! Considering the amount of gas, time, and paperwork, $5 plus lunch wasn’t worth my time even if they were giving me lunch.

In my career as a resume writer, I have yet to come across a mystery shopper who made a living at it. Avoid scams and continue to do your research before responding to any job offer.
