It’s time to Update Your References

The first full week of May is International Update Your References Week, and a reminder to evaluate and check in with your job search references, whether you’re actively looking for a new gig or not. While LinkedIn is probably the best place to keep track of your professional references, it’s in your best interest to reach out with a phone call or personal email to see how your network is doing, and ask permission. There are a lot of rules when it comes to references. You’ll find up to date information at Career Directors International, as well as a recent interview I did on my radio show with Dawn Rasmussen of Pathfinder Writing and Career Services.
