It’s 4th of July Weekend, a reminder of the freedoms we hold so dear. When I think about freedom, I consider how fortunate we are to have the freedom to choose our career path. In some countries, the government dictates your job. Only the lucky are matched with their passion.
Which brings me to “passion.” It’s either something you have, or you don’t. You can’t learn it, but you can spread it. Ask any Hiring Director if they’d rather have a less experienced employee who loves their work, or a highly experienced worker who would rather be doing something else. The answer is fairly obvious.
So if you’re entering the work force, take some time to discover what you’re passionate about. “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” – I don’t know the original author of that statement, but the first time I heard it, I never forgot it.
Cherish your freedom to choose your career path, and by all means, take advantage of it!
Have a safe 4th!
