Are you a Micro Manager?

Logo-rOne of the biggest reasons I hear from clients on why they are seeking a new job is that they work for a Micro Manager. It’s difficult to spread wings and get the job done when a superior is constantly breathing down your neck. A few years ago after I lost one of my favorite bosses to a heart attack, I thought about what made him my favorite boss. It was because he was lazy! Yes, LAZY! He didn’t want to have to deal with the mundane, so he hired the right people, told us what needed to be done, and stepped out of the way. He took care of the important stuff–like making sure my paycheck was signed, I got a vacation when I needed one, and he empowered me to make the right decisions. It was a great working atmosphere, and we were an extremely productive crew.

So how do you tell if you’re a micro manager or if you work for one? Here’s an article to set you straight. Keep on the lookout during job interviews if your next supervisor displays these traits.
